As it turns out, the cheapest way to London from Paris is by bus.
Our trip took about 8 hours, including the many stops for customs before going under the English Channel. Our bus actually drove into a train car which then transported us through the tunnel. We did our best to document it with pictures.
Once back on land, we were in London in no time. The bus ride had us wiped out, so we spent the night walking around a bit and getting to bed early.
The next day was New Years Eve, which proved to not be the best time to visit London as many streets were blocked off in preparation for a huge downtown celebration. Also, Big Ben was under construction while we were there. There was scaffolding all around and we couldn’t see it at all. Kind of a bummer! Despite that, we did our best to see everything we wanted to. We managed to find Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, and even a lovely Christmas Market where we had some lunch.
We decided to celebrate the new year on our own at a pub rather than spend 80 pounds on a ticket to the big party. We had a lot of fun, but ended up heading to bed early, due to our exhaustion and knowing we had lots more left to do in the coming days.
On our last day in London, we went to Kings Cross Station where the Harry Potter scene with Platform 9 3/4 was filmed. This was a really cool experience as I am a huge Harry Potter fan. I felt like I was in the movie!
After our short stop in London, we took a train to our final winter break destination, Liverpool.
